Recent Updates:

07/04/2003: Over the last two weeks I have progressively updated the Photo Album. The Photo Album is now in it's 5th (and hopefully last) incarnation. I also changed the taskbar background and changed the "color theme" of the site from blue to green.

05/28/2003: I Updated the Youth page, added a brief Sunday School page and High School Page. Will add some Graduation Pages soon. I also added the special prayer request page.

Ok, I've decided no one ever reads this page anyway, so I'm going to treat it as my own personal forum. I'm not only going to write what's new with the church website, I'm also going to tell you about all the fascinating things that are new with my no-doubt-exciting life. I'm the webmaster, so I get to do stuff like that. :-)

The 7lakesbaptist.org domain name expires in about two weeks, so I've got to try to move it over to a cheaper domain registration service and then register it for another year or two. However, I'm leaving for college in 3 months and I'm pretty sure no one else is going to bother to update this site after I leave, so I'm really not sure what the point is. I pretty much started this site as an excuse to teach myself HTML, JAVA, and CSS. No one else from the church seems terribly interested (or capable, for that matter) of keeping this site up and running. I'm going to register it for two years in the hopes that someone will come along during that period and pick up where I left off.

I really believe that in the future this site will become an important part of our church; everything else is on the web, why not our church? The site looks a lot better now than it did when I started it two years ago, I still have lots of additional improvements in mind, but I really doubt I'll have time to implement many of them before I leave. Among other things, I would really love to dump the frames and switch the site over to SHTML. Unfortunately, this entails about ten hours of grueling work with the code, and I really don't feel up to it right now. Note to future 7LB webmaster: make it your first priority to switch to SHTML, it will save you lots of head aches later on (if I never see another html frame for the rest of my life, I will die happy). Pastor Steve has been talking about getting some Greek text info posted on the site, I think this is a great idea, but unfortunately he doesn't have any of it in digital format...

There is one other problem, I am currently employed at GreatNorthern Remote Access, the company that is hosting our website. Because I work for GN, I am able to host this site on their servers for free. However, when I move to Montana, they will probably not be willing to continue hosting the site for free. If this is the case I will have to look for other means to host the site.

Anyway, if you happen to be a poor sucker who knows a little bit about HTML, has way to much free time on their hands, and is interested in dedicating many long hours to staring at a screen and writing code for the 7 Lakes Baptist website... Please let me know! I'll do everything I can to help you get started.

Seeing everyone (including myself) graduate and get ready to leave has put me in a really depressed, end of the world, kind of mood, I guess that's why I wrote this long note here that I'm sure no one will ever read. Anyway, I will definitely post at least a couple of minor updates before I leave, so check back soon.

02/19/2003: Updated Events page, added liks to Links page. Should be adding a new Theology section soon. We have 2120 Hits!

07/16/2002: Made updates to photo album, added YG Summer retreat '02. I will add building project stuff soon. I'm thinking about dumping the side bar and going to SHTML.... We have 1870 hits!

06/12/2002: We are now www.7lakesbaptist.org! And we have 1750 Hits!

01/22/2002: Over the last few weeks I completely changed the Photo Album, both the interface and the "file system". I have photos of the Highschool Summer Retreat, the 2002 Children's Christmas Play, and the building project. These will all be posted on the site soon. I'm also trying to figure out how to get the site moved to www.7lakesbaptist.org. Apparently I have to wade through a mountain of paper work in order to get the domain.

12/05/2001: The Guestbook has been posted! I also got the automatic resolution redirect script to work. There are now 2 versions of the website, the two versions are identical except that one is optimized for 800x600 and higher resolutions and the other is optimized for 640x480. The website will automatically redirect you to the version of the site that will work best with your display.

12/04/2001: The NEW Photo Alubum Page is almost done (the update has not been posted yet) the Guestbook page is also almost done. I added a VBS page with pictures and I'm also working on a site map. I should have a whole lot of updates posted by the end of the week. We've got 966 hits!

11/20/2001: I'm working on a lot of different updates. I'm redesigning the photo album page (I'm trying to make the site 640x480 friendly) I'm also prototyping survey and guestbook pages (you can try the guestbook here). I'm trying to get the whole site completly updated by the end of the year.

11/04/2001: Changed the photo on the main page, also completly overhauled the sidebar, I changed the sidebar background and the buttons. I think it looks alot better now (Thank you Jeremiah and Jenny for helping).

10/30/2001: Made minor touch-ups to the Links page and Events page, also added "Welcome to the 7 Lakes Baptist Church Website" message to the status bar (If you look at the status bar at the bottom of the screen you will see this message). The next few updates will be: a Guestbook, a Survey, and a new photo for the main page. I'm also going to update the AWANA page.

10/29/2001: Changed the counter. The website counter is no longer a free counter that has advertisements!!! Also, the new counter will not count up everytime someone hits the refresh button. It records the IP address of the visitor and only counts up when the page is visited by a different IP address -a different visitor. HUGE thanks to Bill Kibby for helping me set this up.

10/28/2001: Added aditional links to the links page (thanks Shawn) also fixed the problem with the missionaries page. The next few updates will be: New Counter (not free), New Guest Book (not free), New Survey (not free). Hopefully I'll get this stuff up and running soon.

10/16/2001: Submitted web pag info to 23 additional search engines including lycos, hot bot, and allthesites -we should start seeing a lot of hits.

10/14/2001: Added photos of the Mattocks, Dave Hunter, and Ruth Billings to the missionaries page. Also added description of Dave Hunter's Ministry. I'll add descriptions of the other missionary's ministries soon.

10/10/2001: Added snow applet to youth/winter retreat 2001 page. Now when you go to this page snow falls across your screen! Also added additional links to the bible links page. Also fixed problem on home's cool page. I still need to lower the resolutions on some of the photos. I need photos of the 2001 Men's Retreat, 2001 Women's Retreat, 2001 High School Summer Retreat, and 2001 ??June?? Baptisms.

10/09/2001: Added photo of Dennis and Robin Legg to the missionary page. I'll add photos of Dave Hunter and other missionaries after the missions conference. Also uploaded all the pictures from the Home's Cool trip to the Everett Historical Museum, & the trip to the Olympic Mountains. The photos of the trip to Mount Saint Helens were lost bacause I forgot about them and formated my hard drive (I hate it when that happens). Also uploaded all the pictures of the August 05 2001 Baptisms, you can see them on the baptisms page under photo album. Yahoo has added us to their site list! No word yet on the other search engines. This site has been submitted to Yahoo, Alta Vista, and Google.

10/08/2001: Worked on the Photo Album page. Added new sections and uploaded photos from the 2001 High School Winter Retreat. Click here to see the new section. Submitted webpage info to search engines, so within a few weeks this site should start getting a lot of hits. Going to upload missionary photos soon.

7/25/2001: Updated the missionaries page. I (finally) got the image map working. Now you can click an area on the map and see what missionary is serving that area. I hope to get pictures of our missionaries posted soon, along with a brief description of what the missionarys are doing (handing out teddy bears, etc.).

6/05/2001: Updated the events page with anouncments from Sunday, June 03. Will add pictures from the latest homeschool trips soon.

5/10/2001: Uploaded all the pictures from the Home's Cool Seattle Trip. Due to size limitations and viewing convenience, these photos are only posted at 640x480 resolution. I'm working on a password protected directory. I've also been experimenting with SSI & CSS; I may convert the site to SHTML or even... (gasp!) PHP. I got rid of all the hyperlink underlines (YES!).

5/08/2001: Moved the site! The website used to be at: www.tgi.net/~dylan/7lakesbaptist -with a virtual address: www.tgi.net/7lakesbaptist. Now it is at: www.tgi.net/~7lakesbaptist -with the same virtual address. This means absolutely nothing to you, it just means I have to do less typing! I also found out that the site is ALREADY taking up 30+ mb! Apparently I need to start posting slightly smaller pictures.... From now on all pictures will be posted at 640X480 resolution. I'm going to have to go back and reduce the resolutions on the pictures that have already been posted. All pictures will be e-mailed to church members (at higher resolutions) upon request.

4/29/2001: Complete overhaul. Changed the main picture (will change it to a better one soon) added buttons to the side bar. Added "photo album" page, deleated "feedback page."

4/27/2001: Added a "British and American Camps trip" page under Home's Cool, posted all the pictures from that trip.

4/24/2001: Haven't had much time to work lately. I'm working on the missionaries page, added a map. I'm going to make the places where our missionaries are link to a page with more specific info on the missionaries (different spots on the map linkable). Also working on the sidebar, I'm going to add hover buttons instead of just hypertext.

4/16/2001: Disabled that stupid background music! I hope to acquire a more suitable midi soon..

4/15/2001: Fixed up the "Events" page, added special announcements from Easter Sunday.

4/15/2001: Added zoom in/zoom out and inlineframe feature to location page. I'll be improving this (adding more levels of zoom) soon. Top priority: I need to find a new midi hymn for background sound.
